Munich. Familiar names and a strong new addition as the rider lineup for the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team for the 2025 FIM Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC) is set. South African Steven Odendaal will join the regular riders Markus Reiterberger (GER) and Sylvain Guintoli (FRA). Estonian Hannes Soomer will also be ready again as the fourth rider for the 2025 season.
31-year-old Odendaal has been a permanent fixture in the FIM EWC paddock since 2022, making him a true endurance expert. Previously, he was the overall runner-up in the 2021 FIM Supersport World Championship, competed for eight years in the Moto2 World Championship, and won the Moto2 European Championship in 2016.
Reiterberger has been deeply rooted in BMW Motorrad Motorsport’s FIM EWC project from the beginning and will enter his sixth season with the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team in 2025. Guintoli, the 2014 Superbike World Champion and 2021 FIM EWC World Champion, joined team manager Werner Daemen’s squad for the 2024 season. For Soomer, it will also be his second year in the team and on the #37 BMW M 1000 RR.
Sven Blusch, Head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport: “With this strong rider lineup, we have assembled an important part of our overall package for the FIM EWC 2025. Our clear goal is to become world champions in endurance racing after winning the title in the FIM World Superbike Championship. With our quartet of riders, we are well-prepared for this. Markus Reiterberger has been a key part of the success story of the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team from the very beginning. Sylvain Guintoli has been a very important part of the project since last season with all his skill and experience. Newcomer Steven Odendaal has also already made a successful name for himself in the FIM EWC. Additionally, we have a strong fourth rider in Hannes Soomer, who has settled in excellently in his first year on the BMW M 1000 RR and at BMW Motorrad Motorsport. At the same time, we would like to thank Ilya Mikhalchik for his long-standing commitment to the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team. He has also been instrumental in shaping the team from the beginning and setting it on the path to success.”
Werner Daemen, Team Manager BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team: “With our rider lineup, we are well-prepared to enter the title fight in 2025. Markus is our stalwart, and we are excited to enter our sixth FIM EWC season together with him. Sylvain was a great addition to our team in 2024, and it’s fantastic that our collaboration with him continues. Our new addition Steven has already been testing with us, and he has quickly settled into the team. In Hannes, we have a strong fourth rider who made a great contribution to the team last year. However, in an endurance team, it’s not just about speed and skill, but also team spirit – and that’s an aspect that distinguishes our quartet. Unfortunately, Ilya will no longer be with us. I thank him for the many years together and wish him success in the future.”

Munich. Just a few weeks after announcing the Hypercar line-up, the GT drivers who will represent BMW M Motorsport in 2025 in the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA series) have been confirmed. Valentino Rossi (ITA) will enter his second year in the LMGT3 category of the FIA WEC with the #46 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. He will share the cockpit with newcomer Kelvin van der Linde (RSA) and Ahmad Al Harthy (OMA). In the #31 The Bend Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO, BMW M works driver Augusto Farfus (BRA) will be joined by two new partners, Timur Boguslavskiy and Yasser Shahin. In the IMSA series, Paul Miller Racing will compete with two BMW M4 GT3 EVOs and an all-works driver line-up in the GTD PRO class. Turner Motorsport will also rely on works driver support in the GTD category .
FIA WEC: Second attempt at Le Mans victory and world championship title.
Team WRT enters the 2025 FIA WEC season with the goal of competing for victory in the LMGT3 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (FRA) and the world championship title. Once again, nine-time motorcycle world champion Valentino Rossi is part of the team. He will share the cockpit of the #46 BMW M4 GT3 EVO with Kelvin van der Linde and Ahmad Al Harthy. While Al Harthy was Rossi's teammate in 2024, van der Linde joins as a new BMW M works driver.
In the #31 The Bend Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO, there are two changes. Augusto Farfus – who finished second at Le Mans and fourth in the championship standings in 2024 – remains on board and will share the cockpit with newcomers Timur Boguslavskiy and Yasser Shahin. Boguslavskiy has an impressive history in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, where he competed alongside current BMW M works driver Raffaele Marciello (SUI) and was crowned champion in 2020 and 2023. Shahin competed in the 2024 FIA WEC season for Team Manthey EMA, finishing second in the championship standings. Along the way, he triumphed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (BEL). In 2021 and 2022, Shahin won the title in the GT World Challenge Australia. In 2024, he won the Bathurst 12 Hour (AUS) in the Pro-Am class.
IMSA series: Ten BMW M works drivers in three BMW M4 GT3 EVOs.
The IMSA series season traditionally begins at the end of January with a season highlight, the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA). A total of ten BMW M works drivers will take the wheel of three BMW M4 GT3 EVOs for the Paul Miller Racing and Turner Motorsport teams, five of whom will compete throughout the entire IMSA season. Paul Miller Racing will field two cars in the GTD PRO class. In the #1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, the two Americans, Madison Snow and Neil Verhagen, will compete for the entire season. They will be supported by Connor De Phillippi (USA) and Kelvin van der Linde (RSA) at endurance races. The South African will make his racing debut as a BMW M works driver at the 24h Daytona. In the #48 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Dan Harper (GBR) and Max Hesse (GER) will enter their first IMSA season. Additional drivers at endurance races are Jesse Krohn (FIN) and Augusto Farfus (BRA).
Turner Motorsport will field the #96 BMW M4 GT3 EVO in the GTD category. BMW M works driver Robby Foley (USA) will once again compete for the entire season alongside Patrick Gallagher (USA). Jake Walker (USA) will support the team at endurance races. The fourth driver at Daytona is BMW M works driver Jens Klingmann (GER).
Andreas Roos (Head of BMW M Motorsport): “As with our Hypercar works programmes, we can look forward to great BMW M Motorsport driver line-ups in the GT3 customer racing programmes of the FIA WEC and IMSA series in 2025. I congratulate Team WRT on once again securing some of the best Silver and Bronze drivers for the cockpits of our two new BMW M4 GT3 EVOs. They will hopefully create many great moments alongside our three works drivers. In the IMSA series, Paul Miller Racing is going all out with two BMW M4 GT3 EVOs in the GTD PRO class, supported by a high-class selection of works drivers. The reunion of the former BMW Junior Team with Dan Harper, Max Hesse, and Neil Verhagen in one championship and team is a great bonus that underlines the extreme success of the relaunch of the legendary BMW M Motorsport talent promotion programme.”
Björn Lellmann (Head of Customer Racing at BMW M Motorsport): “In the 2025 season, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO makes its debut, and the FIA WEC and IMSA series are two of the most prestigious arenas for the car. Accordingly, our determination to achieve immediate success and demonstrate what the car is capable of is great. The strong driver line-ups of the WRT, Paul Miller Racing, and Turner Motorsport teams provide the optimal conditions for this. Looking at the IMSA series, I am thrilled with how Paul Miller Racing is approaching the new season. With the team's experience, the new car, and the driver line-up, the focus can only be on targeting the title in the GTD PRO class. Turner Motorsport was in contention for the GTD championship for a long time in 2024. I am convinced that Will Turner's experienced team will play a great role again in the upcoming season. I can hardly wait for the first races.“
Valentino Rossi: “Very happy to continue my experience in the FIA WEC, as last year was a strong debut season. We had some good races including two podiums and we want to try to be stronger and faster. We will work hard together with BMW M Motorsport to improve our performance and be more competitive in every race. It’s great to once again race at some fantastic tracks, that I know well from racing motorcycles, and this makes me enjoy racing in the FIA WEC. Le Mans is of course the most important one, we were unlucky last year, but we will fight for the podium in 2025!”

Munich. The record-breaking journey of BMW M GmbH continues: In the 2024 fiscal year, the sports car manufacturer of BMW reached a new all-time high in vehicle sales for the 13th consecutive year. With 206,582 vehicles, BMW M GmbH once again improved the benchmark, after having exceeded the threshold of 200,000 vehicles sold for the first time in the company's history the previous year. The impressive performance capabilities of the performance and high-performance vehicles are reflected in the growing demand across model classes, drive types, and regions.
The all-electric BMW i4 M50* was the best-selling model for the third time in a row. It transfers the typical M combination of agility, dynamics, and precision into the world of electromobility: With an electric motor at the front and rear axle, which together generate a maximum output of 400 kW/544 hp, the Gran Coupé offers a fascinating driving experience with a range of up to 522 kilometers according to WLTP. But vehicles with other drive systems also saw increases.
"The high demand for both gasoline-powered and electric models shows that our technology-neutral strategy is also paying off in the performance and high-performance segment, driving us to record results," says Sylvia Neubauer, Head of Customer, Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. "Anyone looking for a sporty driving experience will always find it at BMW M - in every vehicle category and drive variant."
The unbroken demand for vehicles with outstanding driving performance is also reflected in the growing share that BMW M models contribute to the success of the entire BMW Group. In 2024, almost every tenth vehicle sold was an M model (9.4% share). This is also a new record high.
High-performance models drive growth at top speed.
The biggest growth drivers in the 2024 fiscal year were the high-performance models, which combine untamed racetrack power with unrestricted road capability. After the 2024 model revisions of the BMW M2*, BMW M3*, and BMW M4* model series, as well as the new editions of the BMW M5* and BMW M5 Touring*, the segment is shining with top performances: The BMW M2 achieved a 64% increase, making it the top performer in terms of growth dynamics. With its muscular proportions and powerful design features, the model athlete makes no secret of its performance capabilities, which are embodied by the optimized M TwinPower Turbo straight-six-cylinder engine with 353 kW/480 hp. The M3 Touring* grew by +57%.
The high-performance segment is also increasingly electrifying more customers. The BMW XM*, as the first electrified high-performance model, recorded a sales increase of 16%. It combines pioneering drive technology with a spectacular vehicle concept: The specially developed M HYBRID System of the Sports Activity Vehicle mobilizes a maximum output of up to 550 kW/748 hp in the top model BMW XM Label*. Uncompromising design and fascinating performance create maximum exclusivity and make the BMW XM a completely new model in the luxury segment.
Overall, the high-performance models crossed the finish line in the 2024 fiscal year with 66,805 vehicles sold and an increase of 8%. "More customers than ever before worldwide are enthusiastic about the typical BMW M combination of expressive design with extensive individualization options, highly dynamic driving performance, and perfection in manufacturing," says Sylvia Neubauer. "The M evokes emotions: All our models have motorsport genes and stand for driving pleasure at the highest level."
International lead of M models continues to grow.
In both the performance segment and the particularly exclusive high-performance area, BMW M GmbH is leading the international competition and further increased its lead in the 2024 fiscal year. Thus, BMW M remains at the top with a large gap to the core competitors. In the USA and the UK, as well as in Germany, BMW M is the market leader among sports car manufacturers. "In the three largest markets, we are number one with a clear lead," says Franciscus van Meel, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH. "This expression of trust motivates us to deliver another strong performance in 2025, despite the continued highly challenging economic environment."
Further expansion of model diversity in focus.
With the further expansion of model diversity, BMW M GmbH is setting accents in 2025 as well. On the agenda are various special models and model revisions with innovations for combustion engines, plug-in hybrids, and electric drives alike. In addition, the development of the new all-electric BMW M3 is progressing. "Our offering spans the entire range of BMW models and includes performance and high-performance variants with all-electric, partially electric, and purely combustion-powered drives," says van Meel. "We will continue to pursue and further develop this successful strategy."
BMW M Motorsport provides emotions, success, and strong sales figures.
Another focus is on motorsport. In 2024, the return to the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) of BMW M GmbH earned, among other things, a podium finish in the GT3 class at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. The BMW M Hybrid V8 Art Car by artist Julie Mehretu also caused a sensation among the more than 300,000 spectators on site and the sports and culture media worldwide. In the past season, the three current BMW M Motorsport racing vehicles, the BMW M Hybrid V8, the BMW M4 GT3, and the BMW M4 GT4, together celebrated 215 victories, completed more than 1,000 races, and covered over one million kilometers. In 2025, the focus will be on successes with the BMW M Hybrid V8 in the FIA WEC and the North American IMSA series. On the customer motorsport side, the EVO versions of the BMW M4 GT3 and the BMW M4 GT4 are entering their debut seasons. Both vehicles are selling extremely successfully and demonstrate the extraordinary popularity of BMW M Motorsport products with customers around the world.

Munich. The BMW Group managed to continue its growth path in 2024, delivering a total of 426.594 fully-electric vehicles to customers and achieving BEV-sales growth of +13.5%. Both BMW and MINI brands posted double-digit BEV growth, with 368,523 (+11.6%) and 56,181 (+24.3%) fully-electric vehicles delivered to customers, respectively. The Rolls-Royce brand also recorded significant growth with 1.890 BEV vehicles delivered (+479.6%). The BMW brand managed to increase deliveries across all vehicle drivetrains in all sales regions outside of China.
“The BMW Group is maintaining its growth trajectory for fully-electric vehicles amid challenging market conditions. This is reflected in both the significant sales growth for fully-electric vehicles and the clear rise in new BEV orders in Europe,” said Jochen Goller, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands, Sales. “We are confident we can maintain our BEV sales growth in 2025 with our strong and expanded product line-up,” Goller continued.
[EMBED:PF0009887]
While BMW Group deliveries for the first half of 2024 were in line with the previous year, sales performance in the second half of the year was impacted by delivery stops in connection with the Integrated Brake System (IBS), as well as subdued demand in China. The BMW Group therefore adjusted its sales guidance for the full year. With a total of 2,450,804 vehicles delivered to customers in 2024, the BMW Group achieved this new sales target. Electrified vehicles represented 24.2% of total BMW Group sales in 2024, with 593,215 units delivered to customers. Fully-electric vehicles accounted for 17.4% of total sales.
The BMW brand delivered 2,200,177 vehicles to customers in the full year 2024 (-2.3%). With its attractive product portfolio across all technologies, the brand maintained its position as the global leader in its segment. In the Europe region, the BMW brand expanded its market share, registering double-digit sales growth in Italy, France and the UK. The BMW brand also posted sales growth in the US. In Germany, despite a declining market for fully-electric vehicles, BMW saw growth in new BEV registrations.
With a total of 206,582 vehicles delivered to customers in 2024,
M GmbH sales grew by +2.1%, reaching a new all-time
high. The MINI brand, which updated its entire
product range last year, sold 244,915 units worldwide (-17.1%). In the
fourth quarter, the brand almost doubled its BEV sales year-on-year,
with 29,698 fully-electric vehicles sold. The
Rolls-Royce brand delivered 5,712 units to customers
(-5.3%) in the full year. During the same period, BMW
Motorrad sold 210.408 motorcycles and scooters (+0.6%) and
thus achieved another record year.

Munich. With electric mobility continuing to gather
pace, recycling high-voltage batteries is increasingly under the
spotlight. After successfully launching a closed-loop recycling system
for the reuse of raw materials from high-voltage batteries thanks to
the BMW Brilliance Automotive Joint Venture (BBA) in China in 2022,
the BMW Group has now hit another milestone on its journey. On 1
November 2024, it launched a pan-European partnership with SK tes, a
leading provider of innovative technology lifecycle solutions. The
special recycling process recovers cobalt, nickel and lithium from
used batteries before returning them to the value chain to make new
batteries. This closed-loop system is set to expand to the
US-Mexico-Canada region as early as 2026.
Its long-term partnership with SK tes sees the BMW Group
directly involved in the practical recycling processes, allowing it to
feed back valuable insights to the development departments. Moving
forward, high-voltage batteries from BMW Group development, production
and markets in Europe that are no longer fit for use are to be
delivered to SK tes in what is the first step towards an effective and
sustainable circular economy for batteries. SK tes then converts the
old batteries into high-quality metals that can be reintroduced to
battery production. The latter process sees the batteries mechanically
shredded, during which the metals are concentrated to leave a material
called black mass. The valuable materials, namely nickel, lithium and
cobalt, are then recovered in a highly effective chemical process
called hydrometallurgy. Among other things, these secondary raw
materials will be used for the new GEN 6 drive train.
"Partnerships like this increase our efficiency in terms of
the circular economy. In the closed-loop process, all partners
mutually benefit from their experiences," says Jörg Lederbauer,
Vice President Circular Economy, Spare Parts Supply High Voltage
Battery and Electric Powertrain at BMW AG.
The battery recycling process of SK tes has won numerous
sustainability and innovation awards worldwide – from the Business
Intelligence Group’s Sustainability Service of the Year to the UN
Global Compact’s Apex Award.
Circular economy at the BMW Group
"The promotion of circular economy is an
important strategic topic for the BMW Group. The development of
recyclable products, the increase of secondary materials in our
components, and the closing of loops play an equally important
role," says Nadine Philipp, Vice President Sustainability
Supplier Network at BMW AG. "And by the means of circular economy
we are also increasing our resilience in the supply chains."
The BMW Group follows the principles of Re:Think, Re:Duce,
Re:Use, and Re:Cycle in the sense of a conservation of resources when
it comes to circular economy. From vehicle design and production to
recycling and reuse: everything is geared towards ensuring BMW
vehicles become a raw materials source for new cars once they reach
the end of their useful life. One such example is the BMW Group’s
Recycling and Dismantling Centre. Over a period of 30 years now, the
centre has developed processes and put them into practice, making key
progress in parts and materials recycling.

Dubai. The new BMW M4 GT3 EVO passed its first major test with flying colours. In its racing debut at the 24H Dubai (UAE), the BMW M Motorsport new GT3 flagship celebrated overall victory as well as a class win. After 24 hours of racing, AlManar Racing by Team WRT clinched a commanding victory with the #777 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Paradine Competition secured the GT3 AM class win with the #991 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, finishing an impressive fifth overall.
The #777 car, driven by BMW M works drivers Max Hesse (GER) and Dan Harper (GBR), along with Al Faisal Al Zubair (OMA), Darren Leung, and Ben Tuck (both GBR), started the race from fourth on the grid and was on course for success within the first hour. The #991 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, with Leung sharing the cockpit with Ahmad Al Harthy (OMA), Toby Sowery, and Simon Traves (both GBR), also climbed quickly to the front from eighth on the grid.
Both cars completed the 24 hours without any issues, the drivers delivered flawless performances, and the teams executed outstanding strategies and pit work.
There was also a podium-topping finish in the GT4 class. AGMC Racing by Simpson Motorsport celebrated victory with the #438 BMW M4 GT4. Unfortunately, the #470 BMW M4 GT4 from WS Racing retired during the night.
Reactions after the 24H Dubai:
Andreas Roos, Head of BMW M Motorsport: “This was the perfect start to the new year and a flawless racing debut for our new BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Winning a 24-hour race with a brand-new car and securing a class win as well is far from a given. Congratulations to AlManar Racing by Team WRT and Paradine Competition, and a big thank you to them for making this such a successful debut for the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. My thanks also go to everyone at BMW M Motorsport who worked so hard on the development of this car, making this success possible, and to the drivers, whose outstanding performances contributed to this debut victory. Congratulations also to AGMC Racing by Simpson Motorsport on their win in the GT4 class. What a way to start the year; now we’re looking forward to the next races!”
Vincent Vosse, Team Principal Team WRT: “What a way to start the 2025 season, and our partnership with AlManar Racing. It’s a huge achievement to claim the win on the debut of the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. It was a race of determination and executing the perfect strategy. The crew made zero mistakes and performed flawless pitstops, and we know that makes all the difference in these races, so a monumental congratulations to them. I take my hat off to the drivers. It is the first time they have all raced together, and in a new car, so I am very proud that we have been able to give them their first overall win at the Dubai 24H and marking our fourth victory here. Congratulations also to Darren for adding a victory in the GT3 AM class! This makes me very excited for the year ahead!”
Max Hesse (#777 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, AlManar Racing by Team WRT): “I’m super happy! It was a great first race for us, for Al Faisal and AlManar Racing by Team WRT. What a nice debut! The team did really a fantastic job. We were not the fastest out on track, but we focused on our work, and it paid off.”
Dan Harper (#777 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, AlManar Racing by Team WRT): “My debut with the BMW M4 GT3 Evo, debut in a 24-hour race with Team WRT and debut for Al Faisal with BMW M Motorsport. A great victory! The whole team had a perfect race and made no mistakes. The strategy was set up perfectly by the team and all the drivers did their job. It was a fantastic race and I’m so glad to get my first 24 hour-race victory under my belt! Hopefully many more to come!”
Al Faisal Al Zubair (#777 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, AlManar Racing by Team WRT): “What an amazing feeling! I've been trying to win this race for a couple of years now, and I started to think that it was not meant to be (laughs). First race with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, first race with Team WRT, it couldn’t have started better than to win the 24 Hours of Dubai. I’m extremely proud to do it under the AlManar Racing banner and hopefully it is the start of a successful journey!”
Darren Leung (#777 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, AlManar Racing by Team WRT / #991 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Paradine Competition): “I am very tired but extremely happy! Munich. The BMW M Motorsport works driver line-up receives additional reinforcement at the beginning of 2025. 22-year-old Belgian Ugo de Wilde will compete in races driving the BMW M4 GT3 EVO starting from the upcoming season. His participation includes races in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, among others .
De Wilde has proved his considerable talent in the past season by achieving a podium finish in the Gold Cup at his debut at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (BEL). He impressed not only during the race but also with strong lap times in qualifying. Throughout the season in the GT World Challenge Europe, the Belgian also competed in the Silver and Bronze Cups. In 2021, de Wilde transitioned from single-seaters to sports cars, competing in the LMP2 prototype in the European Le Mans Series. He made his debut in this category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (FRA) in 2023.
Details of de Wilde's specific race participations will be announced at a later date.
Andreas Roos (Head of BMW M Motorsport): “I am delighted that we have been able to secure a promising young talent like Ugo de Wilde for our works driver squad. His performances in his debut season in the highly competitive GT World Challenge Europe were impressive. We are confident that he will be a valuable addition to our line-up for the 2025 season. With this commitment, we are expanding the already large circle of ‘young guns’ in our works driver squad. We have a superb mix of youth and experience, making our line-up both high-calibre and future-proof.”
Ugo de Wilde: “I am incredibly happy and proud to become part of the BMW M works driver line-up. A childhood dream is coming true for me. I have worked hard since my youth to become a professional racing driver. I am very grateful to a major brand like BMW M Motorsport for giving me this opportunity. I also thank everyone who has supported me in reaching this point in my career. Hopefully, this is just the beginning. I will do my best to justify the trust placed in me. We already had a very good test with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. I felt very comfortable with the car's handling right away and was very well received.”

Munich. BMW M Motorsport and iRacing will launch a completely new type of cooperation in the 2025 virtual racing season: As “Official Safety Car Partner”, BMW M Motorsport will provide the lead car at some of the largest races on the realistic simulation platform. The car in use will be the BMW M2 CS Racing, which has been available free of charge for all iRacing users as an entry-level model since December. Sporting a special design and equipped with the characteristic Safety Car roof beam, the car will appear on track at many of the most popular Special Events.
As in real-world motor racing, a lead car will take the field around a formation lap at classic iRacing events such as the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA), the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (GER), or the “Petit Le Mans” at Road Atlanta (USA), before the participants launch their hunt for points with a “flying start”. The BMW M2 CS Racing is the youngest member of the BMW M Motorsport fleet on iRacing, while the BMW M2 Racing successor model is ready and waiting to hit the real racetrack for the 2026 season.
“This Safety Car partnership represents a new chapter in the success story shared by BMW M Motorsport and iRacing,” said Timo Brückner, Project Lead BMW M Automotive Gaming. “Each season, the Special Events attract record levels of participants and have become real community favourites. For example, nearly 20,000 drivers competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona last year. I am delighted that we will enjoy a prominent position next season at the head of the field, with the BMW M2 CS Racing at these highlight events. Just as in real life, this race car is also the perfect entry-level model on iRacing, allowing drivers to later gain experience with the BMW M4 GT4, the BMW M4 GT3, and even in the BMW M Hybrid V8.”
Tony Gardner, iRacing president, said: “We have a strong partnership with BMW M Motorsport dating back more than a decade, having brought seven BMW race cars to iRacing. The M2 CS is the latest BMW to join iRacing and has already proven to be incredibly popular with our nearly 300,000 members. BMW M Motorsport becoming the official safety car partner of iRacing special events further solidifies the partnership and enhances the racing experience for our members. It’s exciting to see how important sim racing is to BMW and its brand – we are looking forward to the iRacing Daytona 24 powered by VCO on 18th January.”
There is a tradition of BMW M models appearing as safety cars at motor racing events. Since 1999, BMW M has provided the fleet of high-performance safety cars as “Official Car of MotoGP™”, the top level of motorcycle racing. As of 2025, this concept will now be mirrored in virtual motor racing.

Munich/Las Vegas. The BMW Group presents the driving
and user experience of the future at the Consumer Electronics Show
(CES) 2025 in Las Vegas. BMW is providing the first opportunity to
experience the close-to-production version of the new BMW iDrive –
complete with its centrepiece, BMW Panoramic Vision – at the event.
The software underpinning it all is the new BMW Operating System X,
which acts as the intelligence hub behind the new display and
operating concept. The holistic system, with its modern, style-shaping
design, will be introduced in all new BMW models from the end of
2025.
“High tech meets highly intuitive operation – a quarter of
a century of pioneering work and technological leadership in operating
concepts has been channelled into the new BMW Panoramic iDrive,” says
Frank Weber, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG,
responsible for Development.
“The foundations are
provided by the new BMW Operating System X. With this advance, we are
giving one of the world’s best and most comprehensive infotainment
systems even greater capability and once again setting the industry
benchmark in multimodal interaction. Starting with the first
series-produced Neue Klasse model at the end of this year, the new BMW
Panoramic iDrive will form an integral part of all future BMW models.”
Four elements, one goal: consistent driver focus in
characteristic BMW style.
The new BMW iDrive merges
four central elements into a unique display and operating concept.
The combination of these four elements re-interprets BMW’s customary “hands on the wheel, eyes on the road” approach, with which BMW sets the benchmark for driver focus and presents a unique form of intuitive, use-friendly and ergonomically optimised operation. The BMW Panoramic iDrive always gives the driver the right information in the right place and at the right time. The system continues the approach of using an optimal combination of analogue and digital controls through the use of switches, buttons, touch and voice control. There are haptic switches for the windscreen wipers, turn signal indicators, exterior mirrors, volume control, gear selectors and window de-icers. Other functions are optimised for operation using touch/voice control or via the multifunction steering wheel, such as telephone functions, media control systems, navigation, assisted driving, personalisation of displays, selection of MyModes and much more besides.
Alongside data-driven learnings on the use of BMW Operating Systems across the global fleet of now more than 22 million connected BMW vehicles, the development phase of the new BMW Panoramic iDrive also included numerous studies conducted in the BMW Group’s usability labs, in which around 3,000 customers were involved. Every decision on the various aspects of the operating logic is therefore based on data and made in a structured manner. Here, the user experience’s extended scope for personalisation has also been aligned with customer preferences and requirements.
BMW Operating System X: intelligent, versatile, fit for the
future.
The new BMW Operating System X represents an
update of the latest operating system, as used in many BMW models, and
is a wholly in-house development from BMW. Like BMW Operating System
9, it is based on an Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software
stack. It offers even greater update and upgrade capability than the
predecessor system, making it both fit for the future and backwards
compatible. It is ready to accommodate additional functions and will
keep vehicles equipped with the new BMW Panoramic iDrive at the
cutting edge of technology over a long period of time.
“The
overall concept of the new BMW Panoramic iDrive with Operating System
X has been enabled by a large technological leap forward,”
says Stephan Durach Senior Vice President Connected Company
BMW Group. “It offers intuitive operation, emotionally
engaging experiences and specific personalisation. The new BMW iDrive
with Operating System X demonstrates the potential of a
software-defined vehicle.”
The expanded intelligence of BMW Operating System X makes it possible
to combine the BMW Panoramic Vision, optional BMW 3D Head-Up Display,
central display and multifunction steering wheel with one another in
such a way that physical and digital experiences merge. For example,
an incoming call initially brings up a graphic on the BMW Panoramic
Vision. At the same time, a symbol on the relevant steering wheel
button that was not previously visible is illuminated in green,
indicating the option of taking the call by pressing the button or
rejecting it with a swipe on the right-hand side of the steering
wheel.
When a navigation destination is entered by touch control
or voice command, route guidance alerts are shown on the BMW 3D
Head-Up Display and further information on roads and junctions on the
BMW Panoramic Vision. A whole map overview can be shown on the central
display at any time for broader-scale orientation.
The personalisation of content reaches a new level with BMW Operating System X. The displays in the Panoramic Vision can be adapted to personal preferences. In addition, drivers now also have the option of choosing their own settings for driving attributes such as response and steering characteristics in the My Mode “Personal”. Moreover, pictures chosen by the user can be uploaded as backgrounds for the Central Display and the colourway of the Ambient Lighting and user interface design adjusted to their particular preferences, creating an even more personalised driving experience.
The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant responds in the accustomed way to the prompt “Hey BMW” or can be called up by pressing the respective button on the multifunction steering wheel. The capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant are being constantly enhanced and will be taken to a whole new level for the Neue Klasse through the integration of Large Language Models (LLM). The use of this technology is focused initially on navigation, allowing the customer to give more extensive spoken commands using natural language: for example: “Take me to a charging station which is close to a food store.” At technology partner Amazon’s booth at CES 2025, visitors can get an initial impression of these capabilities using a beta version of this build of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant in a BMW X3.
As with the current infotainment systems from BMW, the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant can – if the driver desires – make suggestions proactively based on user behaviour. This intelligence expands further with BMW Operating System X. In relevant situations, the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant highlights driver assistance systems, which are rarely used by the driver. As a kind of reminder, the system suggests activating Sport Mode on suitable routes if the driver has already activated Sport Mode independently beforehand. If the driver doesn’t respond to or ignores these proactive suggestions several times, the system learns and refrains from making suggestions from then on.
BMW Operating System X carries over the scope for integration of third-party apps from the previous infotainment generation. As things stand, the BMW ConnectedDrive Store offers more than 60 apps worldwide for BMW Operating System 9. The selection will continue to grow, e.g. with productivity apps such as video conferencing service Zoom.
Design and technology for a unique user and driving
experience.
The new BMW Panoramic iDrive is scalable and
will be integrated into all new BMW models – across all vehicle
segments and with all drive system technologies – from the end of 2025.
The driving experience takes centre stage. The driver should feel at
ease and have full control over the vehicle. This principle is
reflected in the design of the new BMW Panoramic iDrive. Particular
attention is paid to the details: the user interface has been designed
as intuitively and adaptively as possible to ensure seamless
interaction. The result is a holistic experience enhanced by a
harmonious combination of sound, light and innovative design. Every
journey becomes a special moment of connection between human and
vehicle.
“Technology and customer preferences are changing more
quickly than ever. The design of digital experiences and sound is
playing an ever more important role,” says Adrian van
Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. “The new
BMW Panoramic iDrive not only makes our vehicles smarter and more
user-friendly, it also enables much more extensive personalisation,
which turns every new BMW into a car that is very much the user’s
own.”
Another element in the holistic experience provided by the
BMW Panoramic iDrive is the new HypersonX sound experience in the Neue
Klasse models. Developed by the BMW Group Sound Design Studio, it
comprises 43 sound signals and special driving sounds for Personal
Mode and Sport Mode. The multi-dimensional spectrum adapts the sounds
precisely to the driving situation at hand and, in so doing, creates
an emotional interaction between the driver and their BMW.

Munich. These days the question of how stable a business is, is increasingly coming under the spotlight. Crisis-proof companies are characterised by targeted planning, the flexibility to adapt to volatility, and good leadership. But organisations that meet these criteria also make desirable employers – as shown by numerous studies in 2024 that rate the BMW Group as highly attractive in this regard.
One example is the Trendence Professionals Barometer. Here the BMW Group once again topped the rankings in 2024 as the best employer – for the thirteenth time in a row. A leading study in gauging employer attractiveness, the Trendence survey questioned 15,000 university-educated employees in Germany to ascertain the best employers for professionals. 2024 also saw the BMW Group top the tables in other global and market-specific employer rankings, such as the World’s Most Attractive Employers, by Universum, and the World’s Best Employers, by Forbes.
"You don't automatically become the best employer. Our industry is changing. At BMW, we rely on the skills and experience of our employees, take them along with us on the journey and offer them varied and meaningful tasks. This allows them to grow personally and fully develop their potential. This also pays off in the competition for the best employees," emphasizes Ilka Horstmeier, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Human Resources and Real Estate, Director of Labor Relations.
In the current challenging situation especially, the company and its brands are benefiting from their premium products and exciting new fields of activity around e-mobility and digitalisation. The BMW Group also offers above-average remuneration and a host of additional benefits, as well as mobility and health programmes and opportunities for further development in-house.
Other Trendence rankings topped by the BMW Group
The BMW Group also retained the top spot in the Trendence Graduate Barometer 2024 in the category for Engineering, with a clear lead over the remaining contestants. The survey involved 15,000 students of various disciplines from universities and colleges across Germany.
Among business graduates, the BMW Group was able to boost its approval ratings and rise to second place in the rankings. Another area where the BMW Group is improving is IT, and it now ranks fourth, as the most attractive automotive employer.
In the Trendence School Student Barometer, the company rose from fourth to third place, making it the most popular automotive employer again. 15,000 school students took part in the study.
Highly sought-after skilled workers also voted the BMW Group into the top spot as an employer, in the Trendence Skilled Workers Barometer 2024. This surveyed 21,000 employees in Germany and awarded the BMW Group first place.
BMW Group among top employers globally too
The current ranking of the World’s Most Attractive Employers 2024, by Universum, surveyed more than 144,000 students from the nine leading economies and ranked the BMW Group fifth among prospective engineers worldwide. The company also ranks among the top 17 employers globally for IT and business students.

+++ The 2024 BMW Championship 2024 at Castle Pines Golf Club (Denver, Colorado) makes a record-setting contribution for education +++ Since 2007, the playoff event has contributed more than $60 million for college scholarships +++ BMW Championship becomes first PGA TOUR event to be named “Tournament of the Year” six times +++
Munich. The 2024 BMW Championship at Castle Pines
Golf Club near Denver thrilled more than 138,000 spectators in August
this year, who were able to experience top-class sport and a
spectacular golf course in a picturesque setting. Keegan Bradley's
(USA) claimed his second title at the penultimate event of the
FedExCup Playoffs. Moreover, the BMW Championship raised $10.2 million
in support of the Evans Scholars Foundation. The record-setting
contribution is the largest ever for the BMW Championship, reinforcing
the tournament’s commitment to providing educational opportunities to
youth caddies. The BMW Championship has contributed $60.2 million to
the Foundation since 2007, helping award full tuition and housing
college scholarships to more than 3,600 caddies during that time.
During tournament week, Ilka Horstmeier, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, People and Places, visited the University of Colorado Evans Scholarship House in Boulder and participated in a fireside chat with Evans Scholars. This year, a record 1,190 caddies are enrolled as Evans Scholars at 24 leading universities nationwide.
“The BMW Group is proud of our longstanding partnership with the Western Golf Association, and of the great impact the BMW Championship makes in the lives of so many scholars,” said Horstmeier. “As a forward-thinking corporation, opportunities for young people are matters particularly close to our heart. Education is the key to a self-determined life and an important pillar for the cohesion of our society. We are proud to support the Evans Scholars Foundation and their fantastic efforts in driving change.”
Evans Scholars Foundation was named the National Scholarship Providers Association’s Scholarship Provider of the Year in October.
“So many moments from this year will stay with us, but what really stands out is how the golf fans of Colorado joined with our partners at BMW, Castle Pines Golf Club and the PGA TOUR to make such a tremendous difference for youth caddies,” said Vince Pellegrino, WGA Senior Vice President of Tournaments. “This contribution means hundreds of deserving young men and women will have an opportunity to change their lives for the better.”
In the wake of a record-setting return to Colorado, the PGA TOUR named the 2024 BMW Championship the “Tournament of the Year”. In winning the coveted award for the second consecutive year, the BMW Championship became the first event to be named Tournament of the Year six times (2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2023, 2024).
“It’s an honor to be recognized in this way because each year we truly give the BMW Championship everything we’ve got,” said Marcus Casey, Chief Marketing Officer, BMW of North America. “Tournament week is an invaluable opportunity to showcase our brand on an international stage while engaging with fans in a meaningful way. Thank you to the PGA TOUR for this honor, and to the BMW team, our partners, the volunteers, and fans who bring the BMW Championship to life each year. This extraordinary event would not be possible without your commitment, dedication, and passion.”
The BMW Championship delivered the “Ultimate Fan Experience” in 2024, focusing on spectator entry, access, and transportation across the unique terrain of Castle Pines to provide a seamless fan experience and the best vantage points to watch the TOUR’s top players up close.
“We set high expectations for our return to Colorado, and I think we delivered the best possible experience for the players, caddies, corporate partners and – most importantly – our incredible fans,” Pellegrino said. “This is a tremendous honor and a testament to everyone who worked so hard to make this tournament happen, especially our title sponsor BMW.”
Next year, the 2025 BMW Championship will take place from 12th to 17th August at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Munich. BMW M Motorsport looks back on an intense 2024 season that, in addition to victories, titles, and podium finishes, has produced some other impressive figures. The three current race cars, the BMW M Hybrid V8, the BMW M4 GT3, and the BMW M4 GT4, together celebrated 215 wins, completed more than 1,000 races, and covered over one million kilometres. There was also cause for celebration in automotive gaming .
With the BMW M Hybrid V8 prototype, BMW M Motorsport faced the toughest competition in global motorsport. Its debut year in the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) and its second year in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA series) posed significant challenges for engineers, teams, and drivers. After initial disappointments, a strong upward trend emerged, culminating in the first 1-2 finish for BMW M Team RLL in the IMSA series and the first podium for BMW M Team WRT in the FIA WEC. The hard work is reflected in the numbers, with a total of 82,400 racing and testing kilometres, equivalent to 460 hours.
The BMW M4 GT3, in its third season, secured 50 victories and ten global titles. Key achievements include team titles for Schubert Motorsport in the DTM and Team WRT in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS, as well as the driver's title for Charles Weerts (BEL) in the Intercontinental GT Challenge. The BMW M4 GT3 secured podium positions at the major 24-hour races at Daytona (USA), Nürburgring (GER), Le Mans (FRA), and Spa-Francorchamps (BEL), although failing to score a big win this time. At the FIA GT World Cup in Macau (CHN), the car achieved a 1-2 in the qualification race and second and third places in the main race. Over the season, the GT3 flagship accumulated more than 380,000 racing kilometres.
The BMW M4 GT4, in its second season, won the first-ever SRO global GT4 Manufacturer's title. The title was determined over 50 events with 95 races across Europe, Asia, Australia, and America. In 2024, BMW M Motorsport customer teams raced the BMW M4 GT4 in 770 races, winning 164 of them. Successes with the three current BMW M Motorsport race cars were complemented by numerous triumphs for private teams with the BMW M2 CS Racing, BMW M240i Racing, and many other self-built BMW models from various generations.
The 2024 season was also a complete success for BMW M Motorsport in automotive gaming. BMW M Team Redline triumphed at the prestigious Esports World Cup, the grand finale of the ESL R1 racing series, both in the team standings and with Kevin Siggy (SLO) in the driver's standings. +++ More than a third of BMWs produced in Regensburg are electrified this year +++ Plant Director Armin Ebner: “Regensburg meets growth forecast for EV production” – Annual production 2024 in total: well over 330,000 units +++
Regensburg. BMW Group Plant Regensburg has achieved another major milestone: As projected, the threshold of 100,000 fully-electric vehicles produced since the start of the year was reached today. The milestone vehicle, which came off the assembly line in Regensburg today, watched by Milan Nedeljković, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Production, is a BMW iX1. The vehicle, finished in Blue Bay Lagoon metallic, will be shipped to overseas, to the island of La Réunion. The plant has produced this successful premium compact model for customers worldwide since November 2022.
Nedeljković: “We offer a very wide range of fully-electric vehicles across all key segments. Our German plants produce these vehicles for the global market, delivering a major contribution to the growth of e-mobility.”
Regensburg Plant Director Armin Ebner offers a correspondingly positive assessment of the year: “We are meeting customer needs with our BMW iX1 and BMW iX2 models. I am especially proud of our team at Plant Regensburg, who once again showed tremendous commitment and flexibility, despite volatile market conditions. We have achieved our projected growth target for production of fully-electric vehicles in Regensburg in 2024, as promised.
More than a third of the vehicles built at our plant this year were electrified – i.e. a plug-in hybrid or an all-electric model. In 2024, we will substantially exceed last year's figure of 238,301 BMW vehicles built in Regensburg –with annual production of well over 330,000 units in total.”
More than 1,400 BMW X1 and BMW X2 models are currently coming off the production line at BMW Group Plant Regensburg every workday. The core BMW X1 model will be produced with all drive train variants: as a combustion-engine vehicle and plug-in hybrid, alongside the fully-electric BMW iX1.
“Our plant has become even more digital, more circular and more efficient overall this year,” says Ebner. “We are systematically driving our transformation towards electromobility and the BMW iFactory – an intelligently connected digital factory.” Recent accolades, such as being named “FACTORY OF THE YEAR” 2024 in the category “excellent large-series assembly” and receiving the “Best Cars Award” for the BMW X1 from trade journal auto motor und sport in 2024, provide impressive proof of this. “I would like to extend a big thank you to our entire plant team and our partners for everything we have achieved together.”

BMW Group Plants Regensburg and Wackersdorf
The
BMW Group vehicle plant in Regensburg has been in operation since 1986
and is one of more than 30 BMW Group production locations worldwide.
Every workday, around 1,400 vehicles of the BMW X1 and BMW X2 models
roll off the production line at Plant Regensburg, destined for
customers around the globe. Different types of drive trains are
flexibly manufactured on a single production line – ranging from
vehicles with internal combustion engines to plug-in hybrids and
fully-electric models.
BMW Group Plant Regensburg was recognised as “FACTORY OF THE YEAR” 2024 in the category “excellent large-series assembly” of the prestigious industrial competition. As it implements the BMW iFACTORY, the BMW Group is focused on digitalisation of the Regensburg plant site to create a digital and intelligently connected factory. It is already possible to experience in virtual form what the factory will look like a few years from now. Production of models for the NEUE KLASSE, BMW’s next generation of vehicles, will ramp up in Regensburg in the second half of the decade.
The BMW Group plant in Wackersdorf is home to cockpit production and parts supply for overseas plants. With the opening of a new battery testing centre and commissioning of the first phase in autumn 2024, the location has also become a key facilitator for electromobility. An entirely new area of expertise for the site is the door and flap production centre for Rolls-Royce.
The BMW Group core staff at the Regensburg and Wackersdorf locations in eastern Bavaria consists of around 9,250 employees, including more than 300 apprentices.

Munich. Openness to technology is paramount for the
BMW Group. In addition to the wide range of powertrain technologies,
the goal is to reduce CO2 emissions in all areas.
The BMW Group is convinced that all available technologies are
needed to reduce CO2 throughout the entire chain of effects. For
example, there is potential for reducing CO2 especially with fuels
that are not based on fossil raw materials.
“When it comes to climate protection, every ton of CO2 saved counts. The more than 250 million existing vehicles in Europe are an important factor here: Their CO2 balance could be significantly improved if the regenerative share of fuel was increased. We are going ahead: From January 2025, we will fill up all diesel models produced in Germany with HVO 100 before delivery to dealers — a high-quality diesel replacement with up to 90% lower CO2e emissions in the overall balance sheet.” says Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management, BMW AG.
The BMW Group is now sending a clear signal and is converting
the initial filling of all diesel models produced in Germany to HVO
100. The abbreviation HVO stands for “hydrotreated vegetable oil” and
the addition “100” indicates that it is to 100 percent, i.e. as pure fuel.
“Neste MY Renewable Diesel™” is the HVO 100 fuel used at BMW Group plants, Munich, Dingolfing, Regensburg and Leipzig, which produce annually more than 50 percent of BMW Groups Diesel powered vehicles. Fuel from the Finnish manufacturer Neste enables a GHG reduction of up to 90 percent (“Well to Wheel”) over the life cycle of the fuel, compared to fossil diesel. The initial filling at the plants before delivery to the BMW Group sales organization is five to eight liters, depending on the model.
Since the end of May 2024, paraffinic diesel HVO may also be sold at
gas stations in Germany. The fuel is produced from various wastes such
as cooking oils, as well as residues and other renewable raw
materials.
It meets high quality- and sustainability standards,
Palm oil is not used during production nor does the product consist of
conventional biodiesel.
The fuel makes a significant contribution to CO2 reduction compared to the use of fossil fuels.
Compared with fossil-based diesel, HVO 100 is a higher-quality
product and offers a host of technical advantages: as well as emitting
less CO2, its chemical properties offer better cold start behaviour.
It is also resistant to microbial contamination (“diesel plague”)
because of its purity.
To increase the availability of renewable fuels the BMW Group is
calling for ambitious quotas of at least 30 percent real greenhouse
gas reductions in the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), which must
be implemented in national law by the end of May 2025.
The BMW Group and Neste, with its headquarters in Espoo, Finland, are working together to realize this potential. The BMW Group diesel engines, which are developed at plant Steyr (Austria), and almost all of them produced there as well, have been approved for the HVO 100 fuel in accordance with the European fuel standard EN 15940, starting with the production month of March 2015 for specific models and models. Customers can see detailed information about this here.
Constantly testing.
The BMW Group is constantly testing the compatibility of new
fuels for its engines, in addition to HVO 100, B10 and all e-fuels
approved for diesel engines within the EN590 fuel standard - for
petrol engines, E25 and eFuels approved within the EN228 fuel
standard. The use of higher regenerative components in the fuel is
also a potentially important contribution to CO2 reduction in gasoline
engines. However, to do this, the EU must extend the upper limit set
in the outdated Fuel Quality Directive from the current E10 to E20 or
E25.
Successful test in factory logistics as well.
Since March 2023, Neste-produced HVO 100 has also been used in BMW
Group plant logistics trucks: On the motorway between Landau / Isar
and the BMW Group plant in Munich, four trucks from logistics service
provider Guggemos (GV Trucknet) have been driving the route several
times a day. They supply the Munich parent plant on a just-in-time
basis. This was extended to six more trucks.
These trucks belong to DB Schenker's fleet and use shuttle
services to transport warehouse parts from the BMW Group supply center
in Eching for production in Munich. The trucks cover a good 40
kilometers on every round trip.
BMW Group joins the eFuels Alliance.
The BMW Group is a new member of the eFuel Alliance. Together,
the partners want to promote a pragmatic regulatory framework and a
rapid market ramp-up for renewable fuels. The cooperation should also
encourage other industry representatives to adopt renewable fuels as a
further complementary technology path.
